I’m Anna Stewart, and I’m a qualified and experienced teacher of languages with a Masters in Applied Linguistics. I have worked with many students of different ages as a VIT registered school teacher and a Cert IV qualified teacher and trainer of adults. I have guided my students towards achieving their desired language proficiency in IELTS, Cambridge Examinations (FCE, etc) and OET, as well as helped second language speakers of English interact with native speakers in an educational, workplace and social environment. I have also guided VCE students towards achieving their personal best results in both EAL and English Language.
For eight years, I lived in a variety of different countries teaching ESL in language schools and as a private tutor. Some of this time was spent in Japan, where I worked teaching English in a junior high school, during which time I published a book called “Foxy Phonics”, which continues to be sold nationwide across Japan. After returning to Melbourne, I worked as the head of languages at St Bernard’s College in Essendon, and then continued teaching at the Australian National College of English and the College of Adult Education, where I designed, developed and wrote some course curriculum.
I have a great love of the English language and enjoy helping students develop their own abilities. I strongly believe in learning English in a natural environment, but also understand that each student has a different learning style and adapt each program to best suit the needs of the individual. My teaching includes practical instruction; group, pair and solo work; investigating current issues; problem-solving activities and field trips.
I’m David, and I’m part of the ‘Interact with Languages’ team.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Education in 1997, majoring in Media Studies. I completed my TESOL qualification in 2000 and since then, have taught English and literacy in the UK, Japan and Australia.
I am responsible for writing many of the VCE text resources for ‘Interact with Languages’, and have a passion for presenting English texts in simple and easy to understand terminology that develops a further understanding of the English language as well as the book as a whole. I’m also constantly keeping on top of all the latest issues in the media and any new information on the English language, making sure that all our resources are kept up-to-date and of the highest quality.
